Cape Town golf at its best

Quality course meandering amongst the 300 year old vineyards of the Cape on the tip of Africa. Excellent practice facility - Stimp 11 on very smooth greens and wonderful views of the city. Classic Par 72 layout with some well thought out ( 2 long and 2 short) par5’s. Overall, outstanding days golf with some superb local Steenberg Merlot after the game.

Greens on the comeback trail

By all admission, the 2015 golf season was a lost one for Steenberg. The course lost a majority of its greens and spent the last six months trying to repair them. Beat up brown patches were prevalent the day I played. To the superintendent's credit, they putted better than they looked. By all indications, Steenberg's road to recovery should be smooth.
Steenberg has so much to like just minutes from Cape Town. The holy trinity of attractions for traveling golfers - hotel, winery and a pleasing golf course - are in place. Length isn't so much the problem as the rough. It's thick, almost too much if you ask me. The scenery won't wow you like at Arabella or Pearl Valley, although it's still quite good. Don't miss the lunch and wine tasting at Bistro 1682 at the winery. The scenery there - both the people and the landscape - is impressive.
